Owner Clark Richey advised the gallery’s artists of the exciting changes on Tuesday.
“We believe these sites will be excellent tools for the promotion of each of our artists and the gallery in general,” Richey said. “A gallery IS the artists that it represents, and we truly hope that our efforts here show that the Alley Cat Gallery’s focus is squarely on our unique and talented artists and their work.”
Co-owner Amye Gousset was the mastermind behind the primary website, while Richey produced the online store.
“In this trying time, we wanted to have a way for people to continue to engage our gallery and enjoy our artist’s work,” Gousset said. “We have the best artists around, and we want to show them off!”
The websites are LIVE as of Thursday, May 14, and patrons of the gallery can learn about each of the artists and view extensive samples of their artwork. Additionally, they can purchase the art for local pickup or for shipment to their homes.
“We will continue to practice social and professional distancing as we re-open our store this Saturday” Richey added, “but with the new website tools anyone can do business with The Alley Cat Gallery from the comfort and safety of their own homes. We think that is vitally important at this time, and we wanted our customers to have that ability.”
The Alley Cat Gallery opened for business at 103 East Main Street in Baldwyn, Mississippi, in October of 2019, and is already home to more than twenty artists in various disciplines. Several new faces will join the gallery soon, according to Richey, Gousset and gallery manager Daphne Taylor.
